It has been forever since I have stayed up this late or been this exhausted. But, it feels good. Today has been full of memories that I know I will keep and cherish forever. These moments definitely make the trip worthwhile, even if it was a ruse to get me to talk to Derrick.

All of my things are now in the tent I am sharing with Derrick. He hasn't made it back from the bathroom, or wherever it was he went, yet. I roll out my sleeping bag and recount the events of the day to help squash my nerves.

When Cami and I finally made it back to the campsite our neighbors, the Campbells, were talking to the guys. I could tell from the way Derrick’s eyes lit up in excitement that we would be doing something fun and adventurous. We spent the entire day on Mr. and Mrs. Campbell’s pontoon boat fishing, talking, and just enjoying each other’s company. I didn't even know they had a boat, but apparently it was sitting at the dock waiting to be taken out on the lake. The highlight of my day was watching Cami attempt to bait her own hook. There are moments when I see Cami and all I see is a strong badass woman, this wasn't one of those moments. I think she may have even gagged a little bit. It shouldn't be funny, but it is. Only because she likes to be as self-sufficient as possible, and this is the one time I've seen her ask for help lately. Mrs. Campbell kept asking her if she was alright, or if she needed her to do it. But Cami would only ask for Travis’s help, too embarrassed to be shown up by an older lady.

Derrick pops his head into the tent. “Are you okay in here?"

It’s then that I realize I’m standing still, the corners of my sleeping bag in my hands, and I'm grinning goofily into space. "Yeah, just picturing Cami's face when we were fishing earlier."

He chuckles, "I don't think she is ever going to want to go fishing again."

"She might," I say. "I think she liked the fishing part. She even caught quite a few. She just wasn't a fan of the whole preparation thing."

He pulls the sleeping bag out of my hand. "Here, let me help you with that."

"It's okay, I can do it."

"I know you can do it, I just want to help. Which side do you want?" Derrick gestures to the half open partition.

Instead of answering, I unzip it the rest of the way, tying the extra fabric to the side, until there is no longer a barrier. A part of me wants to rush and put the partition back in place, if only to let me hide from my emotions for a few more hours. But, I did promise Derrick I would try, and take things as they come.

“Are you sure?” He finishes laying out the sleeping bag. “I don’t want you to feel pressured, or think you have to sleep next to me.
